Gigi is a 1958 American musical romance film directed by Vincente Minnelli and starring Leslie Caron, Maurice Chevalier, and Louis Jourdan. The rest of the cast includes Eva Gabor, Isabel Jeans, and Hermione Gingold.
Leslie Caron plays the titular character, a young Parisian girl who is being groomed to become a courtesan. Maurice Chevalier is Honore Lachaille, a wealthy bon vivant and family friend who helps guide Gigi's transformation. Louis Jourdan plays Gaston Lachaille, Honore's nephew and Gigi's love interest.
Eva Gabor plays Liane d'Exelmans, a former courtesan and friend of Gigi's grandmother. Isabel Jeans plays Madame Alvarez, Gigi's grandmother, who is determined to find a suitable husband for her granddaughter. Hermione Gingold plays Alicia de St. Ephlam, Gaston's jaded mistress who is jealous of Gigi's newfound relationship with him.
The film won nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
